Position

Opalenica is located 37 kilometres from Poznań (N 52°19′ E 16°24′ Region: N 52°18’33” E 16°24’20”). Opalenica commune borders on the following communes: Nowy Tomyśl, Kuślin, Duszniki, Buk, Granowo and Grodzisk Wlkp. It is located on the Opalenica Plain, at the Mogilnica River, which is the biggest, right-bank affluent of Obra. The length of the river is 48,2 km. The Opalenica land spreads in the river basin of Mogilnica that is completely plain.

Transport

Opalenica is located at the province road no. 307 Poznań – Nowy Tomyśl of the large regional importance. It has a convenient road connection with other towns. There is an E30 international route Berlin – Świecko – Poznań – Warsaw at the distance of 20 km from Opalenica. At the distance of 10 km from our town an A20 motorway Berlin – Warsaw is  built and the way-outs from this motorway are located 10 km east and 25 km west from Opalenica. International, modernised E20 railway Warsaw – Berlin runs through the town E20. In its close neighbouring there is a modern goods and passenger station with side-tracks and large unloading area which makes it possible to use the railway transport to transport the goods. The distance from Opalenica to the western border of the country is 140 km.
